The ZANZAN Standard / What we want to be held to

The standard we use for our own food.

We want trust to come from specific, checkable product information. These are the principles we use when deciding what to make, what to say about it and what to charge for it.

1. The Family Rule

If we would not be comfortable eating a product ourselves or serving it to our own family, we should not be comfortable selling it to yours. That rule comes before packaging language, advertising or growth targets.

2. Ingredients Should Be Easy to Find

The current product page should show the ingredient list and relevant allergen information before purchase. The physical pouch remains the final statutory reference for the exact product you receive. We do not want customers hunting through several screens to understand what is in their food.

3. Specific Facts Beat Broad Health Slogans

We prefer a specific fact such as a process, ingredient or laboratory value over calling every product 'healthy'. Nutrition and process claims apply only where they are supported for that product. Values may vary by flavour and the final pouch declaration remains the reference for dietary decisions.

4. Process Claims Must Match the Product

Different foods need different preparation. We roast, grind, blend or season according to the product. Where ZANZAN says a product is roasted, not deep fried, or identifies a particular oil, that statement is intended to apply only to the product where it is explicitly shown. We do not turn one product fact into a blanket range claim.

5. Proof Should Be Available Before Payment

Where an independent product-specific laboratory report is available, we publish a link so customers can open it before ordering. A laboratory report relates to the tested sample identified by that report; it is not presented as the production batch code for every pouch.

6. Every Pouch Should Be Traceable

Physical packs should carry the packed-on information, best-before guidance and batch code needed to identify the product supplied. This traceability is separate from the laboratory report number and helps us investigate a genuine product concern properly.

7. Fair Price Is Part of Product Quality

We do not want better everyday food to become a luxury category. Our aim is to spend where it matters, including ingredients, safe handling, useful packaging, testing and dependable fulfilment, while keeping prices as sensible as we reasonably can. The live product page and checkout are the source of truth for current prices and offers.

8. We Will Not Manufacture Trust With Reviews

Customer feedback should be labelled according to how it was actually collected. We do not want offline tasting notes, testimonials or marketplace reviews described as independently verified unless the verification source genuinely supports that description.

9. Problems Should Be Handled Like Family Problems

If an order arrives damaged, unsealed, incorrect or otherwise eligible under our published policy, customers should have a clear support path. Replacement and refund eligibility continues to be governed by the published policy, but the operating principle is simple: investigate fairly and make genuine problems right.

10. The Standard Can Get Stricter

As ZANZAN grows, this page should become more demanding, not more vague. Better sourcing records, stronger testing, clearer manufacturing information and more useful customer proof can be added over time. When our practices change materially, we should update the standard rather than leave an old promise behind.
